SG Cares is a movement dedicated to support goodwill in Singapore by helping those in need.

Working with the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre, we created the SG Cares App to encourage Singaporeans to build a more caring society through volunteering opportunities.

BACKGROUND

The SG Cares movement was a new initiative co-led by the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) and National Council of Social Service (NCSS). Our task was to build a next-gen experience founded upon giving back to society.

We sought to create a new platform that could enable Singaporeans to make their contributions easily, allowing for content and opportunity to come together to drive a more caring and inclusive society.

SOLUTION

We created an iOS and Android application that will allow users to select the social causes that they care about, which in turn will churn out a curated, personalised “news feed” that they can browse on a regular basis – creating a more comprehensive user experience, aiming to spur users on in their volunteering and donations.

Working closely with their team, we built the CMS for the app with AWS cloud services for a more scalable, high-performance, as well as a cost-effective approach to data management.

PRODUCT HIGHLIGHT

Our approach with this project was to design and develop a user-friendly platform that made volunteering more accessible and easy. The app has a personalised dashboard that allows users to monitor their time spent volunteering and total amount of donations. Donations are integrated with Apple Pay, Google Pay & Stripe built into the app.

The SGCares app was successfully launched by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in January 2018 at Tampines Hub. It was extremely well-received by the media and a visual demonstration of the app was presented to PM Lee by NVPC. With countless updates and articles, the app was released to great fanfare. Version 2.0 was released on 12 May 2019 at the SG Cares event with Speaker of Parliament Tan Chuan-Jin.
